Common Questions
Welcome to our FAQ section. We've compiled the most common questions our community asks to help you find answers quickly.
Beginner Questions
I have zero coding experience. Where do I start?
If you are completely new to programming, we highly recommend starting with the Frontend Developer roadmap. It introduces HTML and CSS first, which are highly visual and immediately rewarding, before moving into the complexities of JavaScript programming logic.
Do I need a powerful computer to learn to code?
No! Almost all beginner and intermediate web development can be done on a basic laptop. As long as your machine can comfortably run a modern web browser and a text editor like VS Code, you have everything you need.
How long will it take to get a job?
This is the most common question, and the hardest to answer. It depends entirely on your consistency, prior knowledge, and the local job market. On average, a dedicated learner studying 15-20 hours a week might be job-ready in 6 to 12 months.
Roadmap Questions
Why did my progress reset?
Currently, your roadmap progress is saved locally in your browser using localStorage. If you clear your browser's cache/cookies, use a different browser, or switch to a new device, your progress will not carry over. We are actively working on cloud-sync accounts.
Can I skip topics on the roadmap?
Absolutely. The roadmaps are opinionated guides, not strict rules. If you already know Git or basic HTML, feel free to mark them as completed and move on to the topics where you actually need practice.
A resource link is broken. What should I do?
We try our best to keep links up to date, but the internet changes fast. If you find a dead link, please join our Discord and report it in the #content-updates channel, or submit a quick Pull Request if you know how!
Contribution Questions
How can I contribute to the roadmaps?
We welcome contributions! Whether it's fixing a typo, updating a broken link, or suggesting an entirely new topic, you can contribute via GitHub. Check out our Contributing Guide for a step-by-step tutorial on making your first PR.
I'm a beginner. Can I still contribute?
Yes! In fact, beginners often make the best contributors for documentation because you have a fresh perspective. If a tutorial confused you, rewriting it to be clearer is an incredibly valuable contribution.
Account Questions
How do I create an account?
At this time, DemonTech does not require or support user accounts. The platform is entirely free and open, and all tracking happens locally on your machine.
Will DemonTech ever charge for access?
No. The core roadmaps and curated resources will always remain 100% free and open source. We firmly believe in accessible education.
